Anti-Addiction Center
Location Al Mahalla, EgyptFootprint 10,000 m2Date Designed in 2024

First implementation of the Anti-Addiction Center Prototype located in Al Mahalla, Egypt

Designed in 2024 as part of the national initiative to advance psychological healthcare and combat drug addiction, this anti-addiction center prototype is designed to provide a supportive and healing environment. The facility accommodates up to 180 patients at a time, ensuring a balance between privacy, comfort, and access to essential medical and therapeutic services.

The center prioritizes well-being through its design, offering private and tranquil inpatient rooms filled with natural light and surrounded by green spaces. Common outdoor areas are integrated to encourage movement and social interaction, while dedicated indoor spaces facilitate various recovery-focused activities. The architecture follows international mental wellness design guidelines, incorporating fluid spatial planning that fosters a calming and restorative atmosphere.

The building is fully equipped with critical medical infrastructure, including emergency response areas, treatment rooms, and diagnostic labs, ensuring comprehensive care for patients in all stages of recovery.

A defining feature of the design is the central spine, which embodies a seamless architectural flow using warm materials and soft tones. This spine serves as a transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, integrating central courtyards and skylights to introduce natural light throughout the facility. Thoughtfully placed seating areas enhance patient comfort, while intuitive circulation provides easy access to various departments and outdoor therapeutic spaces.

By combining evidence-based design principles with a holistic approach to patient care, this anti-addiction center prototype sets a new benchmark for psychological healthcare facilities, offering a healing space that supports recovery and reintegration.
